Agreement to these terms
The Archivist ("the service," "we," "us") is a personal library tracker for books, board games, crafts, and trading cards. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
Who can use this
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account, matching the age limit in our Privacy Policy. You're responsible for keeping your password secure and for everything that happens under your account.
Your content
Everything you add — books, board games, craft projects, cards, photos, notes, and anything else you enter — is yours. We store it so the service can show it back to you, and to anyone you explicitly share it with (a friend you accept, or a share link you hand out). We don't claim ownership of it and we don't use it for anything beyond running the service.
You're responsible for what you add. Don't upload anything you don't have the right to use, anything illegal, or anything meant to harass or impersonate someone else. We can remove content or suspend an account that violates this.
Sharing & friends
Share links and friend connections are read-only for the person viewing them — a friend or anyone with your link can browse what you haven't hidden, but can never edit it. You control what's shared from Profile & Settings, including hiding an entire world (Books, Board Games, Crafts, or Cards) from friends at any time.
Acceptable use
- Don't scrape, data-mine, or automate access to the service beyond normal use.
- Don't try to break, bypass, or probe its authentication or security.
- Don't use the friend, recommendation, or feedback features to send spam, abuse, or unsolicited messages.
- Don't use the service in a way that places unreasonable load on it or on the third-party lookups it relies on (BoardGameGeek, the Pokemon TCG API, Open Library, OpenStreetMap, PSA, and similar).
The Plus upgrade
Plus is a single, one-time $5 payment — not a subscription, and nothing about it renews or recurs. It unlocks Year in Review, extra themes and shelf styles, cover-photo scanning, friend activity, and other perks noted where they appear in the app. Payment is processed entirely by Stripe; we never see or store your card details, as described in our Privacy Policy.
Refunds
Because Plus is a low-cost, one-time digital unlock that takes effect immediately, purchases are generally final. That said:
- If you're charged in error — a duplicate charge, a charge that didn't actually unlock Plus, or something similarly wrong on our end — contact us and we'll refund it.
- If you change your mind, you can request a refund within 7 days of the purchase by contacting us; we'll generally honor that for a first request.
- A refunded account reverts to the free plan, and anything that required Plus (like a published Year in Review share link) may stop working.
We'd rather refund you directly than have you dispute the charge with your bank — a chargeback costs us more than the $5 itself, so please reach out first.
No warranty
The service is provided "as is." We try to keep it running and accurate, but we don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data from third-party sources (book, game, or card lookups; store locations; etc.) is always correct.
Limitation of liability
To the extent allowed by law, The Archivist isn't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you've paid us in the past 12 months (which, for most accounts, is $0 or $5).
Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time from Profile & Settings — this is permanent and can't be undone. We may also suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
